Ok for me running a successful Airbnb isn’t just about having a stylish property or a great location, it’s about cleanliness. And I don’t just mean a quick tidy-up before the next guest arrives, but the kind of attention to detail that even the fussiest guests can’t fault.
First Impressions Count!!
Unlike hotels, Airbnbs don’t have daily housekeeping, so in turn means the very first moment a guest walks through the door is everything. A spotless home doesn’t just look nice, it gives peace of mind that the space is safe, cared for, and worth their money.
What Fussy Guests Notice!
Some guests walk in with eagle eyes, and from my experience heres what they’ll spot straight away:
• Dust on skirting boards and in corners
• Smudges on mirrors and glass
• Missed spots under the bed or sofa
• Bins that aren’t fully clean
• Bathroom taps, grout, or shower screens that don’t sparkle
• Bedding and towels that don’t feel or smell fresh
This is just to name a few.
Why It Matters?
The question I find a lot of cleaners / cleaning companies completely over look, why it matters!
It matters because one small slip can lead to a review that says “not very clean,” and that can hurt your future bookings. But when guests write things like “immaculate”, “spotless”, or “the cleanest Airbnb we’ve stayed in” your property instantly stands out and climbs higher in search results.
So In the short-term rental market, cleanliness is the ultimate deciding factor between a glowing five-star review and a disappointed guest. Today’s travellers have high expectations, and rightly so when they’re paying for a premium stay. That’s why I always remind my team: guests notice the details, every single time. It’s those details that set us apart, and it’s the reason we’re consistently praised for our personal touches, meticulous attention to detail, and unwaveringly high standards.
